Directories | Map View New

Availability
This feature is available now.

Description

You can display the geographically based contents of a directory listing on a map with pins, which can be tapped to reveal details of a location.

In this example of a campus tour map, contents of a directory are displayed on a scalable (pinch-and-zoom) Google map. Users drill down with a tap on the map pins to detail information of each location.

For this to work, your data collection items must include an address, city, and state. Then take note of the following two screens located in your administrator tools:

Option 1 (Recommended)

Choose “Map” from the layout type dropdown menu. Select the checkbox with the “Use system generated geolocation” label. This invokes a nightly process that generates the geocode for each item.

Option 2

Choose “Map” from the layout type dropdown menu. Leave the checkbox with the “Use system generated geolocation” label unchecked (empty). Then select the location field that stores a complete location (e.g. address, city, state in one column) in your data collection.

Applications and Ideas

Map directories can be applied to almost any geographic information in your data collection. In the example on the left, a map directory is used to help members of an assocation locate each other. In the example on the right, the map directory shows fans of your school where to find the closest watch party for the big game.

Directories | Advanced Search New
